Saguaro Cactus
Our friend Dagaberto has been obsessed the grand Saguaro cactus Carnegiea gigantean his entire life which is going on ninety plus years. He is one of few people we know of that can grow this amazing plant reliably from seed and has an amazing collection of cacti to prove it. These cacti can grow 40 to 60 feet tall with the tallest growing in the relatively wetter areas. The largest known saguaro is 13.8 meters (45.3 ft) tall with a girth of 3.1 meters (10 ft)! They grow very slowly from seed, and will not grow at all from cuttings. Saguaros have a relatively long life span and they take up to 75 years to develop a side arm. A saguaro without arms is called a spear. We offer this incredibly rare cactus in three sizes: 5 years, (4” tall), 10 years, (6” tall), and 20 years old (8” tall). Note: Pictures are compressed making the plants look smaller. . See 4' for example.
