Green River Fossils

During the age known as the Eocene, some 10 million years after the dinosaurs went extinct (48-55 MYA), the Green River Geologic Formation was formed. Sediments comprising this formation were laid in a group of tropical intermountain lakes in three basins running along the present-day Green River in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. These sediments were deposited in very fine layers and present a continuous climatic record of six million years giving us precious insight into what the area was like and what kinds of animals lived there. The Green River Formation is famous because it produces some of the most intricately detailed and best preserved fossil specimens of numerous species of freshwater fish, two distinct freshwater Stingray species, Alligators, Crocodiles, Turtles, Snakes, Birds, Bats and other mammals as well. We at Gondwanaland Trading Company are thrilled to offer some of the finest examples of Green River Formation fossils available anywhere on the internet. We have enlisted the intrepid Adam Lindgren as our guide and curator. Adam has been wresting exquisitely preserved fossils from the Green River strata since 2004 and produces some of the finest, museum quality prepared specimens available. These fossils offered here are all “one of a kinds”, so please confirm that we still have the particular one you are interested in prior to purchasing. We try to keep the listings updated. Please provide your location and postal code and shipping charges will be calculated.
