It was four in the morning and the roosters cut loose. It didn’t matter because we couldn’t sleep anyway. The bed was as hard as a board, the mattress smelled of sweat, (someone else’s) and the ceiling fan made a clickity - clack sound as it rotated. We were in Lichuan, a village located at the base of Wuling Mountain in southwest Hubei Province, China. We were there to see the living fossil Metasequoia glyptostroboides in its native habitat. We were impressed by the Mother trees scattered throughout the valleys. The trees looked like a troll would pop out of them any minute! We have this very special tree available here in a large size at a great price!
