Psychopsis Mendenhall is a hybrid between Psychopsis Butterfly and Psychopsis papilio. This particular clone is extremely vigorous, with dark purple psuedobulbs, wide thick leaves that have lovely purple spots that make the foliage as cool as the flower! This plant is beautiful even when it is not in bloom! The huge butterfly-like flowers can be 5 to 6 inches in size and look like a cross between a beautiful moth and an extraterrestrial! The spikes on which the flowers are borne are from 2 to 3 feet in height and can produce flowers for up to five years! In fact, if the spike is ever damaged, do not cut it off as usually two flowers will re-grow from the tip.
