This tree makes an incredible bonsai container plant with its swollen trunk, structural form and incredible inflorescences. Cussonia spicata, or Cabbage Tree is an attractive, quick growing, relatively long lived tree which can attain a height of 15m in its native habitat of Southern Africa. Cussonias in general have the peculiar habit of producing their attractive leaves toward the ends of thick, knarled branches in large round heads. They have a form that evokes a palm from a Dr. Suess story. USDA Zone 9b: to -3.8 °C (25 °F). We offer these remarkable plants in quart containers.
